1st ESO ART. UNIT 1.1 Basic elements of the image, the dot.

- Did you hear about Seurat and Pointillisim? Watch this video:

To support the class explanation I will upload here a few examples from previous years.

The main goal of this exercise is to draw using dots and avoid the line, The dot is going to be the element that shapes the image.

The motive of the activity is "I invent a landscape". Here you can see a few examples, do not copy them. They are not landscapes and the motive has to come from your imagination. Natural landscapes can have mountains, a river, trees, bridges, houses or boats. Here are some examples:

For this exercise you will have 4 class sessions, with 2 sessions you have enough time to finish it, but as some students are slower I leave you more time.

For the fast ones I offer you an opportunity. You can improve your mark with an extra job. This extra work can be done at home or in class, but you must deliver it one session after we finish the obligatory activity.

During Prehistory the man of that time represented animals on the walls of caves, these images are called "Rough paintings". It is believed that prehistoric man believed them to be magical and thought that by drawing animals they favored hunting. The motive of the activity is "I paint animals in Prehistory", you have to represent one of the animals of the Cave of Altamira in Cantabria. You can see a few of them below this explanation. The drawing must be done only with dots.

Go on and enjoy the task.
